TikTok Canada’s local presence ensures we have a voice in shaping policies that reflect our values and address the issues that matter to Canadians.

Summary: The Canadian government’s decision to shut down TikTok’s domestic operations could hinder its ability to monitor and counter misinformation, raising concerns ahead of a closely watched federal election. TikTok Canada’s public policy head, Steve de Eyre, highlighted the importance of the platform’s Canadian team in navigating local political and cultural contexts, monitoring harmful content, and collaborating with Elections Canada. Despite national security concerns linked to ByteDance, TikTok plans to challenge the order in court, arguing that removing its local presence complicates efforts to safeguard election integrity.
